MAINTENANCE WORKSHOP FOR NEW TRAIN-SETS SAUDI ARABIA
> SECTOR(S) : Rail
> SERVICE(S) : Engineering Consulting

The Saudi Railways Organization (SRO) required engineering consulting services in order to prepare Tender Documents and Request for Proposals (RFP) to enable the SRO select a suitable contractor through international competitive bidding for the design, execution and maintenance of a Running Shed at Riyadh station and a Heavy Repair Workshop.

CPCS assisted the SRO with preparation of their tender documents. The project began in June 2007 with a site visit by the project team with the purpose of studying constraints, land viability, land topography and structures to be demolished.

CPCS completed the following key tasks:
  • Prepared general layout drawings and draft RFP for the Running Shed and Heavy Repair Workshop;
  • Presented main features of the proposal, shed design, machinery and plant details;
  • Drafted documents to be modified based on SRO observations and comments;
  • Extended necessary technical assistance to SRO in replying to prospective bidders’ queries;
  • Evaluated technical offers received against the tender.

The Final RFP was accepted in February 2008.
