For this project in Ghana, CPCS is working to establish a Public-Private Partnership Resource Centre (PRC), aimed at building capacity of local authorities to utilize PPPs as a mechanism for procuring and financing infrastructure projects and services in the public sector. This involves creating an appropriate policy, legal, regulatory, and institutional environment that will foster successful and sustainable projects.
Commencing work in August 2009, CPCS is responsible for fully assessing the feasibility of the establishment of a PRC in Ghana and strengthening the Government of Ghana’s institutional and technical capacities and knowledge to develop its PPP market. This includes diagnosing and designing options for a PPP Centre, taking into consideration the policy and legislation covering regulation of the PPP contracts and setting up regulatory frameworks and institutions for infrastructure services.
This is the second African country and third worldwide in which CPCS has assisted in establishing a national PPP unit.
