URBAN TRANSIT

CPCS specializes in mobilizing private investment in the urban transit sector. Our urban transit team develops sustainable services and infrastructure that promote economic growth. We have expertise in bus rapid transit, light rail transit, heavy rail transit, commuter rail, and bus transit systems.

We recommend infrastructure and operational improvements that link design options to a project’s economic and financial viability. Our in-house team of international experts provides transit demand and modelling studies that are bankable and useable by the client for future planning exercises.

We undertake cost-benefit analysis to present a comprehensive, realistic estimate of the transit project’s economic return. We analyze the potential for real estate appreciation and suggest mechanisms to capture this additional value.

We examine the legal and regulatory environment surrounding transit operations. Our work with governments and the private sector ensures appropriate regulatory structures.

Social and community development are an important part of the overall
development of transport networks. Using participatory approaches we measure
the impact of proposed developments on the poor and on the environment.

Public transit institutions must be able to implement and support change. We assess their capacity to perform key public sector roles such as policy, planning and regulation. We design new or strengthened institutional arrangements and then help implement these plans. We design the transition – ensuring our clients and the public can absorb new projects without undue hardship.
